I know I said I’d just write about conquering the junk food junkie this week. However, the Sunkist Take a Stand program ’sneaks’ so many great ideas into one activity, I thought I’d highlight it today!
Here’s how it works:
Go to the Sunkist Take a Stand website. Sign up for a free stand. (Supplies are limited). This involves getting your child (who must be between the ages of 7 and 12) to come up with a pledge stating how the stand will operate, what percentage of his/her procedes will go to charity and to which charity he/she will be donating procedes.
Now if you’re homeschooling. . .this is a gem of an opportunity. If you’re not homeschooling, this is a gem of an opportunity. It gets your kids doing math, marketing, community service, and entrepreneurship. It ’sneaks’ in a whole bunch of skills into one fun package. (I’m fairly convinced based on my own daughter’s reaction that they won’te even realize that they’re doing math like stuff.) This is just the type of activity that gets a big thumbs up from the Sneaky Mama. In fact, it wouldn’t be unlike me to turn this into a blog for my kids and to invite others to participate. . .you know, to sneak some writing in there too!
